Boston University Introduces Web-Based Electronic Mail System

The Boston University Office of Information Technology has introduced a Web-based email system which uses the SilkyMail interface. ACS users can select SilkyMail as their primary mail program, or simply use it as a convenient supplementary tool for reading and sending email when they are away from their own computers. SilkyMail is particularly useful in public computing labs or for those users who are traveling and do not have access to their own computers. SilkyMail uses the IMAP mail protocol, so it can be used interchangeably with other email programs such as Eudora, Outlook Express, Outlook, or Netscape.

To access SilkyMail or for more information, help, and answers to frequently-asked-questions, go to http://www.bu.edu/webmail/.

Questions and comments about SilkyMail can be addressed to the BU Office of Information Technology at http://www.bu.edu/webmail/help/, or contact Ron Tate at 617-638-4576 or rtate@bu.edu, or Hari Reddy at 617-638-4279 or hvr@bu.edu, in the LRC Computing Lab.
