Science Citation Index & Social Sciences Citation Index Now Available Online to BU Faculty, Staff & Students


The Mugar Library of Boston University now sponsors a subscription to the Web of Science, the World Wide Web interface to the citation databases of the Institute for Scientific Information®.

The databases include:

The Science Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the sciences. It indexes 5,300 major journals across 164 scientific disciplines, covering approximately 2,000 more journals than its SCI print and CD-ROM counterparts, with all cited references captured.

The Social Sciences Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database, with searchable author abstracts, covering the journal literature of the social sciences. It indexes 1,700 journals spanning 50 disciplines, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 3,300 of the world's leading scientific and technical journals.

Arts & Humanities Citation Index covers the journal literature of the arts and humanities. It indexes 1,100 of the world's leading arts and humanities journals, as well as covering individually selected, relevant items from over 6,800 major science and social science journals.

To access the Web of Science from the Alumni Medical Library's WWW site, go directly to the Online Database Searching page, and click on the link for the database you wish to search. Access to the databases is limited to users logged in under a Boston University domain.
